Dwayne's This and That

Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory.  ~Oscar Wilde

I made this open back banjo several years ago, but never played it with a band. It's        made of walnut except for the fret board of  hard maple, dyed black. For an open back banjo it has good loud sound for claw hammer pick'n.

Because the banjo is used, I'm selling it with a case for $199.00 plus shipping and handling. UPS.      Walnut Banjo - Number 102.  SOLD

This flat top and flat back mandolin was a nice project made of solid walnut  with a spruce top. The back and top are book matched and finished with lacquer to show the beauty of the wood.  Mandolin and case are priced at only $299.00 Plus S & H. UPS

           Mandolin - Number 103

Book matched curly maple was use in construction of the top on the pictured electric bass. Regular maple was used on the remaining except for the fret board being Purple Heart. This is the bass I built and played when I first began playing with "The Grandpas" band.

I wasn't happy playing the electric bass...they just don't have the bass sound I prefer. That's when the decision came to construct a upright bass as shown in the photo musical instrument page one.

This bass is for sale at a bargain for only $399.00 with a

strap, and a nice hard case. S & H is extra.  UPS

Bowed Psaltery

This hand-held triangular shaped melody instrument is played with a bow. Extremely easy to play, the psaltery's haunting, ethereal tone is used effectively with chordal instruments or in solo playing. The standard psaltery is fully chromatic, set up like a piano with the white notes to the right and the sharps and flats to the left.

The instrument is tuned with zither pins and a tuning wrench. Included with your psaltery are a 15" long maple horsehair bow, tuning wrench, rosin, and tuning instructions. There are markers embedded in the instrument for the Cs and for the Gs to help you find your way. All solid walnut.

Priced at only $89.00 plus Shipping and Handling. UPS

Hammered Dulcimer

The hammered dulcimer is one of the more ancient forms of stringed instruments. Historians suggest that it originated over 5,00 years ago in Near Eastern regions where it was called santir and pasanterim. From there it spread west where it found popularity in such diverse cultures as Spain, England, Chins, India, and Europe. It wasn't until the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that the English colonies introduced it into the United States. It is referred to as a "lumberjack piano" in some northern regions of the states because its resemblance in character to the modern piano.

I have constructed  the back and sides of this hammered dulcimer of solid black walnut and the soundboard of western cedar. It features a single treble bridge with two strings per course of pitch. Included are two hammers and a tuning wrench.

Priced at only $240.00 plus shipping and handling. UPS
